VALENTINE’S BALL

This year's Valentine's Day Ball hosted by Children's Smile Foundation was held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the beautiful restaurant, "Chateau Briand", in Carle Place, New York. Our honorary guest was Polish and Slavic Federal Credit Union, which has been supporting our charity for many years now. Our special guest from Poland was Krzysztof Ziemiec, a journalist from the Polish news network, TVP. Mr. Ziemiec led the auction, in which we auctioned a gift donated to us by the First Lady of Poland, Mrs. Agata Kornhauser-Duda, which was a beautiful amber necklace, which sold for $4000. Joanna Sarapata, a Parisian artist, also donated a painting titled, "After the Bath", which was sold to the highest bidder for $3500. We also auctioned a shirt signed by Kamil Stoch, Maciej Kot, Dawid Kubacki, as well as Peter Zyla for $800. A painting by Bogdan Kujawski, who is a longtime friend of the foundation, was sold for $1050. Our Guest Krzysztof Ziemiec, TVP Network Anchor donated his books and DVDs which were sold for $950. We raised a total of $11,000 through the means of the auction. We also organized a lottery during the event, which was sponsored by the company, "Belvedere Bridge". Participants had the chance to win the brand-new iPhone X, as well as “Kruk” jewelry from Beata Jakubowski, 2 Michael Kors fitness watches funded by Joanna Gwozdz and 2 concert tickets to see the band "Perfect", which were funded by Mr. Andrzej Pelczynski.

The proceeds from this event will be going towards helping children in need.

The income from the lottery will be donated to help with the cost of rehabilitation of a 5-year-old Leo Hemond from Rhode Island. He has multiple emotional, psychological and developmental difficulties.  He's been diagnosed with seizure disorder and underdeveloped left-brain hemisphere, which controls speech, listening, logical thinking among other things.  He was also diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder. Leo requires constant, intensive behavioral therapy 3-5 days a week. The cost of therapy is too high for a single mother of two children to be able to pay for themselves.

Thank you to all the guests for attending the unforgettable night, as well as all our sponsors.

As an additional gift, Janusz Skowron added a second picture, which painted the same morning.

Thanks to the commitment of the Consulate staff, to the guests that joined us this afternoon at the Consulate and artists who donated their work, the auction turned out to be a great success.
