"Journey for one smile" - Children’s Day Festival

"Journey for one smile" - Children’s Day Festival
The annual festival organized by the Children's Smile Foundation on June 9, 2018 at the Holy Cross R.C. Church, Maspeth was attended by many children and adults.

The gathered guests were welcomed by Bishop Witold Mroziewski and the President of the foundation Mariusz Sniarowski with the Director of the Polish School Waldemar Rakowicz, who also serves as a director of the foundation. This sunny afternoon had begun with a performance of a very talented band GAUDETE directed by Ewa Gindorowicz. The performers were greeted with thunderous applause from the children. Everyone was delighted with beautiful costumes, arrangements and great gadgets. Together with the Gaudete music repertoire, we went on a trip around the world. At the festival also made appearance Motorcycle MC Clubs from New York, who donated funds to help children in need. They entered the schoolyard with their Harleys and everyone could take photos of their motorbikes.

The participants of the festival could also admire the wonderful performance of Natalie Bar and Laura Such, who daringly recited the poem of Jan Brzechwa "Sojka". The children were prepared for the performance by Maria Paluch from the School of Polish Language and Culture St. John Paul II in Maspeth.

Also, Martha Dance Center band from Ridgewood performed for the first time at the festival. Beautiful choreography, beautiful costumes and most importantly a perfect dance show.

For the youngest attendees there were many attractions such as: face painting, balloon animals, bouncy houses, colored sand, beauty salon, tattoos and special dishes such as waffles, cotton candy or pancakes. For adults, grilled dishes were prepared and served by the Foundation’s Board Directors.

The Childrens Smile Foundation wishes to thank wholeheartedly the Polish-Slavic Federal Credit Union, the main sponsor of the Children's Day trip "Travel for One Smile". At the festival, ladies from the Maspeth branch with the Manager Mrs. Malgorzata Leniartek, with their super booth, gave out great gifts and prizes to both children and adults

The money collected from the lottery conducted during the festivities was donated to the family of Joanna Przedworska from New Jersey, who after the death of her husband, is raising five children alone. The grand prize, a 40 " Smart TV was sponsored by the School of Polish Language and Culture of Saint John Paul II in Maspeth. The sponsor of the second prize, an HP laptop was The Perecman Firm.

The Polish-Slavic Federal Credit Union funded 2 gift certificates and 2 colorful suitcases for traveling.
